Bitter Almond

Such a little girl she was

Brown eyes,

the color of dark chocolate,

skin of caramelized honey.

To look at her was to finally

realize natures true beauty

You could drown in her chocolate syrup eyes

A person might be forgiven for thinking he had gone to heaven and died.

Such beauty offends my eyes,

he decided.

He wooed her chocolatey eyes with promises of chocolate,

took her to his land full of Barley and Jowar.

Carefully and systematically

destroyed that beauty that so offended his eyes.

The Chocolate syrup eyes now a bitter almond,

she no longer offends anyone.
